Evoluon

The Evoluon is one of the most iconic buildings in the Netherlands. The 'concrete ufo' was built by Philips in the '60's as a permanent exhibition space and has become a multifunctional venue for events, congresses and meetings in the years after. Frits Philips's (Philips president from 1961 to 1971 and initiator of the Evoluon) goal with Evoluon fits the idea of the 3D Basecamp: "It would be great if the Evoluon became a place where people share and exchange their knowledge, experience, enthusiasm and inspiration in a way that pays off on multiple fronts."

Jos Obbink
Jos ObbinkMicrosoft HoloLens
Jos is marketeer at Construsoft, supplier and developer of several Trimble software like SketchUp Pro. 2 Years ago, he had the chance to test the Microsoft HoloLens during a conference in Finland. This head-mounted display makes it possible to experience 3D models as a hologram. A few days later, he sat on the plane back to the Netherlands, with the HoloLens, so he could show it to the Dutch audience. Now, 2,5 years later, Jos will tell you more about the technique, the developments and you will get the chance to experience the HoloLens yourself!

Rob O'ConnorSefaira
Rob O'Connor
Rob O'ConnorSefaira
Rob O'Conner (Trimble) has used SketchUp Pro since day 1 to communicate ideas between design teams. Rob has helped to develop Sefaira, a tool for testing your design on energy performance in an early stage. During his keynote, Rob will investigate daylight, energy and thermal comfort on a building live in SketchUp. Dutch norms will be applied and then the perfect amount of glass, most efficient system, and the best distribution of natural light will be explored. All in an interactive and fast way in SketchUp and Sefaira!

Jeroen TheunsSkalp for SketchUp
Jeroen Theuns
Jeroen TheunsSkalp for SketchUp
Over the years, Jeroen continuously focused on bridging the needs of the architectural practice with the evolving field of 3D architectural software. His quest for more intuitive 3D design interfaces literally pushed him onto SketchUp in 2000. In 2004 he founded his own architectural practice and in 2008 he joined forces with Guy Wydouw. With the introduction of Ruby in SketchUp 4, they saw the enormous potential and decided to go 100% for SketchUp, laying the foundations for Skalp for SketchUp. Guy Wydouw and Jeroen Theuns will be presenting on Skalp for SketchUp: how we design and build houses, living the reality of SketchUp 100%.

Being pragmatic and passionate about architecture and computers, Guy is always looking to implement the best software to realize his architectural projects. In 2004 he founded his own architectural practice and in 2008 he joined forces with architect Jeroen Theuns. After visiting SketchUp Devcamp, it became clear that there was an opportunity to share the vision of affordable BIM based on SketchUp with the rest of the world. This was the start of the development of Skalp for SketchUp. Guy Wydouw and Jeroen Theuns will be presenting on Skalp for SketchUp: how we design and build houses, living the reality of SketchUp 100%.

In 2001 Matthijs already mastered SketchUp. In 2007 he started Freyr Architects together with Mark van der Neut and in 2009 he stopped working with programs other than SketchUp. Nowadays, Freyr Architects use SketchUp Pro for 95% of all the design and construction documents. During his keynote he will tell you more about his marriage with SketchUp and why it is the perfect partner. He will also tell you when not to use SketchUp. It's a true story, dressed up with homemade architecture and a passion for everything with the letters ‘3D’ in front of it.
